Kimberlina's Journey
It鈥檚 tough to choose just one story because I鈥檝e been fortunate to experience so many wonderful moments in hospitality, from working in a busy city club to a beautiful beach club. Each venue has offered something unique, but weddings have always been a special highlight for me. What I love most about weddings is seeing how every couple brings their own style and personal touches to their big day.

In the Spotlight
The opportunity to learn from and connect with several wonderful professors provided me with not just academic knowledge but also invaluable industry insights. Their guidance and support were pivotal as I began to navigate my professional journey. Additionally, the networking opportunities at Collins were a game-changer. Engaging with industry professionals and alumni allowed me to build meaningful relationships and opened doors that truly jumpstarted my career. Those connections, along with the practical experience I gained, gave me a solid foundation to confidently pursue my goals.
I’ve always had a passion for events and planning, and I knew hospitality was my calling from the moment I started working at my first country club as a banquet captain. There’s something so special about creating memorable experiences for people and seeing all the details come together seamlessly. I love the dynamic nature of the industry — every event is different, and there’s always a new challenge to tackle. It keeps things exciting and rewarding. Being able to bring joy to others through thoughtful planning and execution is what I love most about hospitality. It’s a field where my creativity, organizational skills and love for connecting with people all come together, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
I would highly suggest the field of hospitality management to any student. The industry is vast and diverse, offering a wide range of career paths — from hotel and event management to food and beverage, and beyond. There’s always something new to learn and explore, and it’s an ideal field for students who are curious and creative. I would also emphasize the global nature of hospitality. It’s a field that allows you to work anywhere in the world, meet people from all walks of life, and be part of a community that values service and excellence.
Baking breads, cookies and pies is something I love to do — especially around the holidays.
