Four faculty members at The Collins College of Hospitality Management have been awarded the 2025 Generative AI Course Integration Grant, part of Cal Poly Pomona’s campus-wide initiative to integrate emerging technologies into curriculum.
James A. Collins Distinguished Professor , Professor and Associate Professors Michelle Yoo and Jie (Jamie) Sun submitted individual proposals to explore how generative AI can enhance student learning in hospitality education. The competitive grant supports faculty from all disciplines in developing assignments, projects or course modules that reflect the evolving role of AI in professional practice.
As recipients, the professors will receive funding to pilot AI-integrated instructional strategies. While specific course applications have not yet been announced, grant requirements include identifying a course and submitting updated curriculum plans during fall 2025.
This initiative is part of the university’s broader effort to prepare students for an AI-influenced workforce. Cal Poly Pomona’s Emerging Technologies Initiative emphasizes innovation, equity, and interdisciplinary collaboration to shape the future of higher education.
