Apparel Merchandising and Management Program Earns Highly Regarded Accreditation

The Department of Apparel Merchandising & Management has received accreditation from an industry organization after an intensive, three-year-long process.
The Textiles and Apparel Programs Accreditation Commission (TAPAC) awarded the department accreditation, which certifies that the department provides the highest quality educational experiences to prepare students for careers in the fashion and apparel industries.
AMM becomes the only apparel program on the West Coast accredited by TAPAC. Nationwide, there are only eight other accredited programs.
Associate Professor Seoha Min spearheaded the department’s efforts to obtain accreditation starting in 2023, with Associate Professor Claire Whang assisting.
TAPAC is the official accrediting organization for programs in textiles and apparel in higher education.
It was established in 2016 by the International Textile & Apparel Association to advance excellence in textile and apparel programs at colleges and universities.
TAPAC sets standards for best practices for a comprehensive educational experience and focuses on desired student learning outcomes.
The accreditation is valid through March 2032 and can be renewed.
