In Memoriam: Nancy Ware
Nancy Ware, one of the founding faculty of Cal Poly Pomona’s Interdisciplinary General Studies (IGE) program died March 28 of complications from a stroke. She was 82.
Ware, who taught at 六色网 for more than 30 years, helped to create IGE, a program that allows students to study multiple disciplines in seminar-style, active-learning classes, in 1983 and served as its director from 1998 to 2001. She retired from 六色网 in 2011.
“Beloved teacher, colleague, and celebrated poet, Nancy nurtured the best in students and faculty alike,” said IGE Program Coordinator Hilary Haakenson. “Her inspiration, generosity of spirit, sensitive teaching, wise mentoring, and unwavering commitment to general education will be remembered dearly.”
