Iris Levine Named 六色网 Interim President

California State University Chancellor Mildred García has announced the appointment of Dr. Iris S. Levine as interim president of Cal Poly Pomona, effective July 28, 2025. President Soraya Coley is retiring from Cal Poly Pomona at the end of July after 11 years at the helm.
Levine has 32 years of experience on campus as a professor and academic leader. She joined the faculty in 1990 and spent 15 years as chair of the Music Department, before rising to associate dean of Academic Personnel and Resources and then dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS). From 2021-2022, she served as interim provost and special assistant to the president before retiring.
Throughout her time at 六色网, she mentored and championed faculty, students and staff with exemplary leadership and a deep personal commitment. Among her achievements, she stewarded the music department to its first national accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Music.
In announcing her appointment, Chancellor García described Levine as “a respected, principled and dedicated educator” and expressed full confidence in her ability to lead Cal Poly Pomona through this important transition.
“To serve as interim president is truly an honor, said Levine. “I look forward to working with faculty, staff and senior leadership to continue Cal Poly Pomona’s trajectory of excellence and to ensure that students have a world-class polytechnic experience – one that allows them to thrive academically and personally.”
Levine holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of New Hampshire, a master’s degree in choral conducting from Temple University, and a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Southern California.
In addition to her academic work, Levine is the founding artistic director of Vox Femina Los Angeles, a women’s chorus committed to commissioning and performing new works and raising awareness about issues that affect women. In 2024, VOX was awarded the Margaret Hillis Award for Artistic and Organizational Achievement by Chorus America and made its debut at Carnegie Hall with National Concerts.
