College of Business Administration Earns Prestigious Dual AACSB Accreditation

Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Business Administration (CBA) and the Singelyn Graduate School of Business have reaffirmed their place among the world’s top business schools with the renewal of accreditation from the (AACSB), a distinction earned by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide. Earlier this year, AACSB also granted the college supplemental accounting accreditation, placing the college in an elite group of business schools recognized for the highest standards in both business and accounting education.
Adding to this achievement, the college’s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter has earned the distinction of Highest Honors Chapter for 2024-25. Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society for AACSB-accredited schools, with membership limited to the top 10% of undergraduate and top 20% of graduate students. Each spring, CBA inducts a new class of members, offering them lifelong access to exclusive educational and professional benefits.
“Our students can be confident they are receiving a truly world-class education,” said Singelyn Family Dean Sandeep Krishnamurthy. “This recognition elevates the value of a Cal Poly Pomona business degree by signaling to employers that our graduates are exceptionally well prepared through rigorous, industry-aligned programs. Earning dual accreditation also strengthens our ability to attract outstanding faculty, forge strategic partnerships, and welcome students who are committed to becoming principled leaders poised to make a lasting impact in the business world.
“Most importantly, this achievement deepens our focus on the university’s mission — further empowering us to prepare students for prosperous economic futures and to drive meaningful contributions to society.”
AACSB’s supplemental accounting accreditation is a testament to the college’s strength and quality, said Magdy Farag, professor and chair of the accounting department. He notes that fewer than 200 accounting programs worldwide, and only seven in California, have received AACSB accreditation.
“It affirms that we meet the highest global standards in accounting education. Information technology infusion within the accounting curriculum is the key differentiator for our program among our peers,” Farag said. “This is an important consideration for accounting graduates seeking positions in their chosen profession. The Big 4 CPA firms that aim to attract the best talent for their audit and tax positions may prioritize hires who earned an accounting degree from an accredited accounting program.”
Within the California State University system, only San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN and Cal Poly Pomona hold this prestigious dual accreditation.
“This dual accreditation reflects Cal Poly Pomona’s unwavering commitment to student success,” said Terri Gomez, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “It is also a testament to the hard work, brilliance, and collaboration of our faculty, whose dedication and leadership ensure that our students are prepared to thrive as future business leaders.”
