Liberal studies at Cal Poly Pomona has taught Eliza the value of integrative learning, where she weaves together academic disciplines, leadership experiences and community service into her vision of becoming an educator. Her passion for teaching stems from early encounters with educators who “saw students not just for their grades, but for their potential, their struggles and their voice.” That realization grew as a college tutor at Citrus College, where she tutored peers and witnessed the transformative power of education to empower and uplift. Her leadership roles as fundraising chair for Alpha Pi Sigma and treasurer of the Multicultural Greek Council have further shaped her commitment to equity, representation, and service. Beyond campus, her years in the service industry strengthened her perseverance and work ethic, while tutoring and her internship at her former elementary school have connected her full circle to her community roots. With deep gratitude to her mother’s unwavering example of resilience and love, Eliza strives to nurture curiosity, confidence and compassion in students and create learning environments where children feel safe to grow.
