Lucas LeVieux

Major: Urban and Regional Planning (Transportation and Infrastructure emphasis)

College of Environmental Design

Activities: President of American Planning Student Association at 六色网; Active Transportation Planner at Alta Planning + Design; transit enthusiast

Before Cal Poly Pomona, Lucas worked as a city bus driver and saw firsthand the challenges and opportunities of sustainable transportation. The experience, coupled with his desire to understand how cities work and can be improved, led him to urban and regional planning, which he considers his perfect major. Lucas also found community at 六色网. “I found my people. It’s such a great environment to be surrounded by classmates who care just as much as I do about building better cities.” Lucas believes in taking a holistic approach to his education both inside and outside the classroom. From building a 100,000-word searchable database built on class notes to help classmates to his leadership in the American Planning Students Association club where he helped secure a competitive grant to sponsor 13 students’ travel to the National Planning Conference, Lucas models the positive impact of channeling curiosity into meaningful action. He hopes to use the skills that he has learned at 六色网 to become a transportation planner to design public spaces and transit systems that foster connection, accessibility and a better quality of life.
