The Polytechnic Approach

Here, you won’t just learn how to teach music—you’ll practice it! Imagine designing and leading music workshops in local schools, assisting with choir or band rehearsals, or creating interactive lesson plans for diverse student groups. Our polytechnic approach will provide the opportunity to collaborate with peers on creative projects like composing and arranging music for classroom use or organizing student performances.

Courses

The Pedagogy (pre-credential) option prepares you for a career in music education, specifically in schools. The program satisfies the "Subject Matter Competency" requirement for the Single Subject Credential in Music, equipping you with pedagogical skills necessary for effective teaching. The curriculum includes hands-on teaching experience through internships and practicums, alongside core courses like "Intro to Music Education" and "Beginning Conducting."
