Faculty Recruitment

Faculty Recruitment

As the nation’s largest and most diverse university system, the California State University hires dedicated faculty who reflect our diversity and commitment to inclusion and student success. Cal Poly Pomona provides a supportive working environment, an opportunity to advance professionally and to work with gifted colleagues dedicated to teaching, scholarship and service.

Promoting an inclusive and more representative academic community is a value that Cal Poly Pomona upholds by designating a faculty equity liaison for each faculty search. The faculty equity liaison is a faculty member trained to work with the search committee to identify and counter bias, implement strategies to bring in more diverse candidates and apply equitable evaluation practices.

Kellogg Legacy Doctoral Mentoring Program for Faculty Diversity

This program is currently closed. Should additional funds be made available in the future, it will reopen.

Optimizing the Lifecycle of the Professoriate: Thriving Faculty = Thriving Students received funding from June 2022- June 2025 from the Kellogg Legacy Endowment to enhance faculty success. This effort expanded the Lifecycle of the Professoriate concept which began in September 2019 to support faculty at all stages of their career.

Cal Poly Pomona’s Kellogg Doctoral Mentoring Program introduced diverse graduate students to the ÁùÉ«Íø faculty experience and CSU mission. Participants spent several days on campus, built connections with ÁùÉ«Íø faculty mentors, shared their journeys with undergraduates, and gained insight into campus life.

Eligio Martinez Jr., Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, served as Faculty Coordinator. A first-generation college graduate, Martinez brought deep experience supporting aspiring academics. “The program gave us a valuable chance to showcase our campus and strengthen our commitment to recruiting exceptional, diverse faculty,” he said.
