Internships

 

MHR Internship Requirement

To fulfill graduation requirements, MHR students must complete 3 units through one of the following options:

  • MHR 4410 / MHR 4420: Internship

  • MHR 4610 / MHR 4610S: Senior Project

📌 Students are not required to complete both. If you secure an internship, enrollment in the Internship course is recommended.

Internship Policy & Eligibility

  • Internship units must be earned while concurrently working at an approved internship.

  • Previous internship experiences cannot be credited retroactively.

  • The internship must be a learning-focused experience with training, mentorship, and feedback provided by the employer.

Internship Course Options

1. Part-Time Internship (MHR 4410)

  • 1 or 2 units per semester

  • Minimum 18 hours/week during the semester

  • Two semesters required to complete 3 units (can be with the same or different organizations)

2. Full-Time Internship (MHR 4420)

  • 3 units

  • Minimum 36 hours/week during the semester

Eligible Internship Roles

Internship positions must involve core responsibilities in management, human resources, or entrepreneurship. Examples include:

  • Assistant Store Manager

  • Department Manager

  • HR Assistant / Recruiter

  • Business Owner (with new learning objectives)

Not eligible:
Roles such as sales associate, financial advisor, administrative assistant, or warehouse associate.

💡 If you're currently working in a management, HR, or entrepreneurial role, you may use your job for the internship only if new learning responsibilities are assigned.

Finding an Internship

Students are encouraged to explore opportunities through:

  • Student clubs (e.g., , , )

  • Campus career fairs

  • External platforms (e.g., , )

Internship Approval Process

For the fall 2025 semester, after securing an internship, submit the following to Dr. Nastaran Simarasl at nsimarasl@cpp.edu: 

  1. MHR Internship Pre-Approval Form (PDF)
  2. A signed copy of the job announcement from the supervisor. If unavailable, a detailed job description specifying duties and tasks, also signed by the supervisor, is acceptable. Here is a sample Internship/Job Description (PDF).

Internship & Senior Project Info Sessions

The MHR Department hosts two info meetings per semester about the Internship and Senior Project.
