Diane Miller
Executive-in-Residence in Cybersecurity

Join us in saying hello to Diane Miller (’81, computer information systems), the CBA's first executive-in-residence in cybersecurity.

Diane has more than 40 years of experience in information security and recently retired from Northrop Grumman as director of technical talent strategy. Her countless contributions to the Cal Poly Pomona community were recognized in 2018 when she was named the CBA Distinguished Alumna and in 2019 when she received college’s first honorary doctorate of science. In her role, Diane will offer industry insight to students and faculty while leveraging her professional network to facilitate and strengthen industry partnerships.

Indira Guzman
Computer Information Systems Assistant Professor

Join us in saying hello to Indira Guzman, a computer information systems assistant professor. 

Indira was previously an adjunct faculty member for the department and brought the 2023 SIGMIS Conference to campus. Her research interests include the impact of IT on Organizations, IT Occupational Culture, Cybersecurity, Information Security Auditing, Business Intelligence, Distance Learning, and Performance Assessment in Higher Education. She serves as a research consultant for the project funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) via the UNISELVA Foundation, aimed to promote women’s leadership in IT. 

Yufan Lin
International Business & Marketing Assistant Professor

Join us in saying hello Yufan Lin, an international business and marketing management assistant professor.

Yufan earned a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Missouri - Columbia. His dissertation investigates the effectiveness of live chat agents in business-to-consumer negotiation and his research interest centers on frontline sales interactions over technology-mediated platforms. 

John Morton
Management and Human Resources Assistant Professor

Join us in saying hello to John Morton, a management and human resources assistant professor.

John earned a Ph.D. in management from the University of California, Irvine and bachelor’s in sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He joins Management and Human Resources faculty as a tenured-track professor. His research focuses on how to make organizations better and work for everyone. His research interests include the study of diversity and inclusion in organizations, leadership perceptions and lower-level workers.

Weijun Zheng

Raquel Alva
Retention and Graduation Specialist

Join us in saying hello to Raquel Alva, the new retention and graduation specialist with the Student Success Center.

Over the last four years, Raquel has served students in the College of Business Administration as an academic advisor. During this time Raquel has helped students achieve their degree and career goals. She has managed the college’s California Promise/Pledge Program, assisted in Orientation planning, and most recently started teaching BUS 1010, the CBA’s first-year experience course.

Raquel has demonstrated her commitment to reducing equity gaps and increasing graduation rates. She is excited to leverage her advising skills and experience to contribute to a team-based approach in implementing targeted and effective interventions to guide students who are at risk of not completing their degrees get back on track and reach their academic goals.

Raquel graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a master’s in public administration. Her graduate capstone applied project focused on retention, diversity, and the relationship between the first-year experience of students and belonging. 

Marc Corra
Student Success Center Advisor

Join us in saying hello to Marc Corra, a new academic advisor with the Student Success Center.

Marc brings more than 8 years’ experience in advising business students. As a professional advisor, he says he strives to bring current philosophies and theories to his work, utilizing experiences gained in training, conferences, and workshops.

Prior to advising, Marc held various roles in higher education after obtaining a bachelor’s in sociology from CSU San Bernardino. He also holds a master’s in education from San Francisco State.

Alicia Corral
Director of Development

Join us in saying hello to Alicia Corral, the new director of development for the College of Business Administration.

Alicia spent 16 years at Cal State San Bernardino where she progressed through the development office ranks before ultimately becoming the director of philanthropy for CSUSB’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She earned her bachelor’s in marketing and master’s of public administration from CSUSB.

As director of development, Alicia will build and maintain relationships with key College donors and stakeholders.

Adriana Mares
Student Success Advisor

Join us in saying hello to Adriana Mares, a new academic advisor with the Student Success Center.

Adriana earned her master’s of science in college counseling from Azusa Pacific University and is pursuing a longtime goal of a career in the field of education. Her experiences as a first-gen college student and working with an early start program led to her to select advising. One of her favorite part advising is meeting students from all walks of life. Adriana is also grateful for the opportunity to get to know students and guide them through their educational path.

Julie Porter
Director of Marketing and Communications

Join us is saying hello to Julie Porter, the new director of marketing and communications for the College of Business Administration and Singelyn Graduate School of Business.

Julie is a versatile communications executive with 20 years of experience in strategic communications, brand management, traditional and digital marketing, and media relations in higher education, arts, and culture sectors. Most recently Julie was the director of marketing and communications at UC Riverside’s School of Education. Before working in higher education marketing, Julie was the director of public relations for Concord Music Group where she worked with heritage artists including Paul McCartney and James Taylor.

Julie holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

Sabrina Toney
Administrative Support Coordinator

Join us in saying hello to Sabrina Tony, the new administrative support coordinator for the Singelyn Graduate School of Business.

Sabrina holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and was previously an office manager at a personal injury law firm. Away from the CBA, Sabrina spends time with her husband, two dogs, and two cats. When she’s not traveling or hiking, Sabrina can be found playing video games, reading or preparing to earn her master’s of business administration from the Singelyn Graduate School of Business.

As administrative support coordinator for the Singelyn Graduate School of Business Administration, Sabrina manages day-to-day office operations and other special projects like co-planning this year’s graduate student reception.

Rose Martin
Accounting Professor

Rose Martin was an experienced professor with a background as an accounting professional before joining the accounting department faculty in 1999. While working toward her Ph.D. in analytical accounting from the University of Southern California, Rose lectured at Cal State Long Beach. As ÁùÉ«Íø faculty, she co-authored articles for journals like Business Education Forum, Journal of Applied Financial Research and Journal of Accounting Finance. Rose was awarded Faculty Emeritus in 2023 following her retirement.

Juanita Roxas
International Business & Marketing Management Chair

Juanita Roxas joined the CBA family in 1989 after earning her Ph.D. in marketing and international business from the University of Georgia. Her research has been published in leading journals like International Marketing Review, Journal of Advertising Education, Competition Forum and Journal of Global Marketing and was named the CBA’s 2011 Outstanding Advisor.

Over the last decade, Juanita has also filled administrative roles, most notably chair of the International Business and Marketing Management Department. She also served as interim associate dean from 2014-2016. Juanita was among the first faculty honored with the Jagdish N. Sheth Award in 2019, a year after receiving Faculty Emeritus status. She officially retired in May.

Nirmal Sethia
Management and Human Resources Professor

The Jagdish N. Sheth Award for Scholarly Excellence is awarded annually to one outstanding College of Business Administration faculty. The award was endowed by management and human resources professor emeritus Nirmal Sethia and Tara Sethia, Cal Poly Pomona history professor. It is one of the many ways Nirmal helped pave the way for success of colleagues, students and the ÁùÉ«Íø community up to his retirement this year.

Nirmal earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, and Ph.D. in organizational studies. He studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has received major grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment the Arts. He has published and made presentations on a diverse range of topics such and organizational reward systems and performance evaluation, collaboration in creativity and innovation, telecommunications policy, design management, and sustainable consumption.

Nirmal held research and teaching positions at University of Southern California. He was honored with Faculty Emeritus in 2018 and brought the nation’s top educators to campus through organizing symposiums like 2016’s “Securing the Future of Freedom” and 2018’s “Movements, Leaders and Followers in an Era of Divides” where eminent scholars and practitioners came together to discuss critical challenges of contemporary society.

John Wallace
International Business Professor

John Wallace spent 17 years as faculty with the International Business and Marketing Management departments before retiring this year. John brought real-world experience to the classroom, having spent 10 years as a brand manager at Nestle and Avery Dennison on top another 10 years in management with smaller companies manufacturing and marketing industrial products. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Vicky Siongco
Budget Analyst

Vicky Siongco initially joined the Cal Poly Pomona staff in 1997 as a budget analyst for Facilities. Upon transferring to the College of Business Administration in 2005, Vicky tracked every financial transaction within the CBA until her retirement this year. Vicky mentored many of her student assistants, often influencing them to pursue a career or advanced degree in accounting, including this year's Singelyn Graduate School of Business Outstanding Accounting Student.
