About the Department
Welcome to the Department of Geography & Anthropology at Cal Poly Pomona. We are proud to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in two dynamic and interdisciplinary fields: Anthropology and Geography. Our Anthropology Program is dedicated to the scientific study of humanity, past and present. The program includes three options: General Anthropology, Applied Anthropology, and Archaeology. The Geography Program is designed to provide an understanding of humanity's cultural and physical environments. The program includes two tracks: Environmental Studies and Geospatial Analysis.
Center for GIS Research
The Center for Geographic Information Science Research (CGISR) is the hub for spatial and geospatial scholarly and creative activities at Cal Poly Pomona. CGISR facilities support research on societal issues, environmental phenomena, and GIScience education using Geographic Information Science (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Machine Learning (ML). The Center is housed in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences, at Cal Poly Pomona.
