Judicial Internship

Ever Wondered What It鈥檚 Like Inside a Courtroom?

At Cal Poly Pomona, students don’t just study law in textbooks, they experience it in action.

Students in the courthouse

For over twenty years, our Judicial Internship course has opened the doors of the Pomona Courthouse to students eager to explore careers in law, politics, and justice. From observing criminal and juvenile cases to witnessing jury selection, interns get a front-row seat to the judicial process. Along the way, they meet judges, attorneys, and other key figures who shape our legal system.

The internship is more than observation. It’s a chance to connect classroom knowledge with real-world practice. Interns spend two days a week at the courthouse and come together every other Friday to share insights and reflect on what they’ve seen. Plus, the course () counts toward upper-division requirements for political science majors and minors.

2025-2026 Applications

Applications for the 2025-2026 Judicial Internship will be due in October 2024. Juniors and seniors (60 units and above) are encouraged to apply. Students should be responsible and ready to travel to the Pomona Courthouse.

If you’re curious about a career in law, this is your opportunity to see if the courtroom is where your future begins.
