Dr. Mohamed Gomaa is a Professor of Accounting and U.S. Fulbright Scholar in the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona. He earned his Ph.D. in accounting with a concentration in accounting information systems at Maastricht University. He has an MAcc from the University of South Florida with a concentration in Accounting Information Systems, an M.S. in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida, and a B.Com from Alexandria University.

Dr. Gomaa’s research interests are in the areas of accounting information systems, judgment and decision-making, auditing, and blockchain technology. He has presented his research at various national and international conferences and has an extensive list of publications. He has been awarded several local and national research grants to support his research, including a National Science Foundation grant for a research project related to providing undergraduate research experiences on Big Data and its interdisciplinary applications to impact societal outcomes.

Dr. Gomaa’s teaching compliments and builds on his research. He has developed and teaches the Analytics in Accounting and Cybersecurity in Accounting courses at Cal Poly Pomona and regularly brings his research into the classroom. Dr. Gomaa has had teaching experience at various universities both within the United States and internationally, including the University of South Florida, Suffolk University, and Hofstra University in the United States, Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Wilfird Laurier University and McMaster University in Canada, and Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology in Egypt. He has also been awarded the Outstanding Faculty of the Year award at several of these institutions.
