Whether you're new to campus or already diving into your academic path, the Student Innovation Idea Labs (SIIL) offer you a place to explore your interests, learn new skills, and bring bold ideas to life. From 3D printing and laser cutting to embroidery and vinyl design, our spaces—like the Maker Studio and iLab—are designed for hands-on learning and community support. You’ll gain real experience, meet other makers, and build the confidence to lead with creativity. Getting started is easy: complete your training, get certified, and unlock access to work on your projects—even after hours.

Step 1: Sign Up Online

Complete the myBAR form to unlock access to equipment training modules on Canvas.

Step 2: Learn the Basics

Watch each training video and take the quiz at the end of every module. You’ll need a perfect score—but don’t worry, you have unlimited attempts!

Step 3: Show What You Know

Stop by during the technician's office hours to complete the hands-on portion. You’ll demonstrate what you’ve learned and get one-on-one support if needed.

Step 4: Get Certified

Once you pass the in-person demo, you’ll receive a card confirming your certification—your ticket to independence in our spaces.

Step 5: Start Creating

You’re now ready to use our equipment on your schedule. Come in, create, and bring your boldest ideas to life.
