Research Statement

I use quantitative methods to conduct research on the political behavior of Latinos in the US. My research seeks to uncover what role identity plays in Latino political behavior. I am currently analyzing the role of religion in Latino voting behavior, specifically I am seeking to understand the differences between Catholic Latinos and Evangelical Latinos as it pertains to voting behavior at the presidential level. Outside of academic research, I have worked on the 2020 USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Presidential Poll, and I served on the Committee to Re-envision the USC Public Safety Department in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd.

SPRING 2025
Minority communities, citizenship, political values, attitudes, behaviors, and policy issues and representation in the United States. Emphasis on the experience of Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and/or Latina and Latino Americans, along with the overall immigrant experience in the US.
Study of character, formation, and nature of public opinion: the construction of beliefs and attitudes; role of public opinion in elections; stability of opinions and voter psychology; the public’s political sophistication; and growth of alienation.
Quantitative methodologies to define, execute, monitor and manage policy, programs and projects. Emphasis is on problem-solving, applications to organizational issues and ethical use of information and analysis to serve diverse community interests.
