Cory Aragon

Associate Professor of Philosophy

Cory Aragon

His research focuses on questions of individual responsibility to remedy structural injustice, both material and epistemic, and he works primarily in the fields of contemporary social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, critical philosophy of race, and global justice. He has been a CCEP Faculty Fellow since 2019 and supervised 六色网鈥檚 Undergraduate Journal of Ethics, Policy, and Social Justice.
Lori Barker

Professor - Director, MS in Psychology Program

Lori Barker

Her primary area of interest is multicultural psychology, and she is the co-author of an undergraduate textbook on that subject titled Multicultural Psychology: Understanding Our Diverse Communities (Oxford University Press). She is also the author of Obama on Our Minds: The Impact of Obama on the Psyche of America (Oxford University Press). Her research focuses on multicultural attitudes, the effectiveness of multicultural education, and the psychological impact of diverse presidential candidates. She recently started a YouTube channel, @LifeLinesWithDrLori, where her goal is to educate, encourage, and empower people about their mental health.
Armondo Collins

Assistant Professor

Armondo Collins

Assistant Professor in English & Modern Languages, with specializations in African American literature and rhetoric, and cultural media studies. He is the author of The Black God Trope and Rhetorical Resistance: A Tradition of Race and Religion. He teaches podcasting as a form of multimodal literacy in courses on Rhetoric and Writing for the Professions.
Brady Collins

Associate Professor of Political Science

Brady Collins

He specializes in examining labor and housing conditions in ethnic enclaves. His recent work focuses on restaurant and retail workers in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. As a Faculty Fellow with the California Center for Ethics and Policy (CCEP), he has coproduced four seasons of the CCEP podcast series. He earned his Ph.D. in urban planning from UCLA, where he was also a graduate of and former instructor in the Urban Humanities Initiative.

Will Cowan

Assistant Professor and Environmental Historian

Will Cowan

He studies the history of weather and water extremes in the North American West, fusing environmental history, history of science, and disaster studies. Will has contributed to documentaries by Weathered, Off the Beaten Path, and American Experience, and has written pieces for Environmental History, Western Historical Quarterly, The LA Times, and the Library of Congress. He teaches Liberal Studies 4011: 鈥淟andscape, Place, & Power,鈥 where students use digital tools and methods to develop their semester-long 鈥淪ense of Place鈥 projects.
Ivana Cvetkovic

Assistant Professor of Communication

Ivana Cvetkovic

After working as a reporter for daily newspapers in Serbia, her current research and teaching interests are situated at the intersection of media, technology and culture. She primarily focuses on online and social media news discourses , especially discourses on migration, and multimedia message production across a variety of platforms.
Annie Danis

Assistant Professor of Anthropology

Annie Danis

Her research and art explore the intersection of art and archaeology through a sensory approach to historic landscapes. She directs the Amache x Sand Creek Massacre Youth Ambassador Program, an intercultural educational initiative involving young descendants of two significant National Historic Sites in Southeastern Colorado. Together with her Visual Anthropology class, she leads site visits and supervises students and young people in the creation of podcasts, videos, and ArcGIS story maps.

Amy Dao

Focused on how concepts of care shape economic life. One recent project examined how perceptions of risk, time, and family shaped the campaign for universal health insurance in Vietnam. She plans to work with students on a health-related digital humanities project, building on prior work co-creating the podcast Under One Roof: Multigenerational Households During the Pandemic.

Michelle L. DeJohnette

Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Studies

Michelle L. DeJohnette

Teaching antiracism and equity in early education. Her research also focuses on critical theories and culturally-responsible pedagogy. She will collaborate with students in the College of Education and Integrative Studies to launch a podcast on racial inequities in early childhood education.

Lauren Furey

Lauren Furey

She advises The Poly Post student newspaper and Bronco Guide magazine, as well as co-leads a Media and Politics Research Team with undergraduate students. Outside of teaching, she researches the portrayal of women in politics by the news media and in popular culture and co-hosts a podcast featuring interviews with women politicians called The Pink State, which won an award of excellence at the 2024 Broadcast Education Association鈥檚 Media Arts Festival.
Gyasmine George-Williams

Assistant Professor of Race, Sports and Social Justice

Gyasmine George-Williams

An activist and socio-cultural practitioner. She is the author of Love Is at the Root of Resistance: Strategies of Activism, Advocacy and Liberation and the founder of 7Ten Legacy LLC, consulting, publishing and research rooted in advocacy. She equips her students with the tools to engage and develop multicultural competencies, challenge ideologies and formulate a critical lens, and was featured in the Season 4 premiere of CCEP鈥檚 podcast, The Multiverse of Misinformation.

Sona Gevorkyan

Sona Gevorkyan

Sona Gevorkyan is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design and a licensed architect. She is the founder of SGAO, a multidisciplinary design practice based in Los Angeles. Her research and teaching explore the intersection of materiality, identity, and digital culture, with a focus on AI, fashion, and fabrication in architectural design. She teaches design studies and digital design seminars at Cal Poly Pomona and is currently developing work in 3D-printed ceramics and surface-based storytelling.
Peter Hanink

Assistant Professor of Sociology

Peter Hanink

Focused on how we as a society respond to crime. His research projects with students have included: analyzing police use-of-force policies, analyzing violence committed against Blacks in South during Reconstruction, experimental studies of how perceptions of dangerousness and criminality are influenced by race, and how rule-breaking is evaluated. He co-supervises students producing public scholarship around crime and society in short-form videos through the Criminology Media Lab.

Shonn Haren

Shonn Haren

M.A. in History from UC Riverside & an M.L.I.S. from San Jose State University. He is 六色网鈥檚 Social Sciences Librarian and his areas of interest include podcasting (including coproducing CCEP鈥檚 podcast in Season 4: The Multiverse of Misinformation), data visualization, GIS, fake news, misinformation and conspiracy theories. Specializing in critical race feminista praxis, education, and youth activism, resistance, and justice. In her course, 鈥淭he Sociological Landscape of Pomona, California,鈥 students analyze the history and culture of the City of Pomona. She also partners with Gente Organizada, a community-led social action nonprofit organization in Pomona dedicated to organizing and building intergenerational power for youth and immigrant families.聽
Rachael A. Hill

Assistant Professor of History

Rachael A. Hill

Specializing in the history of health, science, and medicine in Ethiopia. Her research interests include public health, the social etiology of disease, the history of science in the global south, African therapeutic practice, and medical pluralism. She supervises DH world history research projects on the trans-Atlantic slave system using the online interactive database slavevoyage.org and mentors the student club Student Initiative for Justice at the Ahimsa Center.

Hyeryung Hwang

Assistant Professor of Global Literature

Hyeryung Hwang

An Assistant Professor of Global Literature in the Interdisciplinary General Education (IGE) program in the Department of Liberal Studies. Previously a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech, she received training in Digital Humanities pedagogy, exploring how literary data, combined with sociological and literary-critical methods, uncovers social networks in postcolonial literature. At 六色网, Dr. Hwang integrates hands-on DH projects into her courses, such as collaborative game narrative design, films and podcasts on racial inequality in digital spaces, and a campus accessibility map, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and enhancing student engagement with the digital humanities.
Ayana Jamieson

Ayana Jamieson

A mythologist, and a depth psychologist. She is the founder of the聽Octavia E. Butler Legacy Network, and was featured on NPR鈥檚 podcast Throughline. Her work has appeared in the Black Futures anthology. She liaises with the statewide DH@CSU Consortium and supervise EWS student podcast projects.

Aishwary Kumar

Aishwary Kumar

Director of the Democracy Institute and the Ahimsa Center. An intellectual historian and political theorist whose work spans South Asian, European, and American political thought, he is the author of Radical Equality: Ambedkar, Gandhi, and the Risk of Democracy and will supervise students engaged in DH work in support of Mutant: The Democracy Podcast.
Carsten Lange

Professor of Economics

Carsten Lange

Specializes in money supply, inflation, central bank policy, and聽economic impact analysis. Recent projects include an economic impact study for the City of Industry, predicting real estate prices in Orange County with GIS, analyzing California adolescent obesity with GIS, and an analysis of the European debt crisis. He is expert in machine learning and AI including neural networks and deep learning, and a member of 六色网鈥檚 High Performance Computing Cluster.
Dan Luo

Assistant Professor of Comparative Chinese Literature

Dan Luo

Her area of specialty is modern and contemporary Chinese literature, cinema, and science fiction. In her scholarship and pedagogy, she incorporates literary, aesthetic, and critical discourses about robotics and artificial intelligence, and explores the ways in which sci-fi thematizes the digital transformation of identity and society. She is the co-author of the Historical Dictionary of Chinese Cinema and has written about Chinese sci-fi as popular media and the simulation of nationalist utopia.
Robert Lewis

Robert Lewis

Specializing in modern European history, with a focus on France, urban history, and the history of sport. He is the author of The Stadium Century: Sport, Spectatorship and Society in Modern France. His new research involves the digitization and GIS mapping of mapping railway networks in 20th-century Europe, and he supervises students鈥 DH projects oriented around the global history of the First World War.
Paul Nissenson

Professor and Associate Chair of Mechanical Engineering

Paul Nissenson

His main research focus is exploring the role of technology in engineering education. He has created numerous videos for the Mechanical Engineering Department's video tutorial library (ME Online) and is the host of The Engineering Student Experience Podcast.
Lin Ong

Associate Professor of International Business and Marketing

Lin Ong

Her research examines the interaction of business and society, with a focus on consumer vulnerability in digital and financial spaces. A Fulbright Fellow in Malaysia in Spring 2025, she is interested in increasing consumer well-being through effective marketing strategies and public policy. She supervises DH students in digital marketing campaigns.

Denisse Vasquez-Guevara

Assistant Professor of Communication

Denisse Vasquez-Guevara

As a science and health communication researcher, she has worked in multidisciplinary research on child nutrition, COVID-19 prevention, chronic illness management, urban accessibility, and sustainable foods, creating educational resources via online platforms. She was included in the Ecuadorean Women in Science Hall by REMCI and awarded as Top Faculty Instructor at the University of Cuenca鈥檚 School of Communication. At the DHC, through The Scicom Toolbox, she will provide public engagement tools and training through social media and in-person science communication for culturally diverse audiences.
Eileen V. Wallis

Professor of History

Eileen V. Wallis

She specializes in the history of California and the American West; US Women's History; Public History, and the History of US Medicine and Disability. She is the author of two monographs, Earning Power: Women and Work in Los Angeles, 1880-1930; and California and the Politics of Disability, 1850-1970, and numerous articles. She is particularly interested in the intersection(s) of public history with digital technologies and regularly creates collaborative student-led digital projects for community organizations.
