An animal and veterinary science professor was part of a team recognized by Cal Poly Pomona for developing a repository of course materials that support first-year student success.
Professor Joanne Sohn and six other faculty and staff members were selected for Cal Poly Pomona’s “Wall of COOL” honor, which recognizes courses and learning opportunities that use technology to enhance student learning and success. “COOL” stands for “Celebrating Outstanding Opportunities for Learning.”
Sohn and her team created the First Year Experience Faculty Repository, which supports student success and faculty development by providing high-quality, equity-minded course materials that empower first-year students to navigate college life with confidence.
The repository is accessible to all Cal Poly Pomona faculty.
In addition to Sohn, the team consisted of Physics & Astronomy Professor Nina Abramzon; Dora Lee, assistant vice president of academic engagement and success; Biological Sciences Associate Professor Jamie Snyder; April Dawn and Donya Rahimi of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ), and Mai Tran of Academic Innovation
