Learn how to be successful in your first year at Cal Poly Pomona.

The first-year experience (FYE) course provides an overview of the opportunities and possible careers associated with your major, while you earn college credit.

As part of the program, students engage in activities, community service projects, field trips, and innovative learning opportunities. Make sure to connect with your advisor for more details.
Each major has an assigned FYE course assigned to its core major required courses.

The FYE course should be taken in your first semester with us. Each of the following courses satisfies a major course requirement in its respective major:

  • AGS 1000
  • AHS 1104
  • AVS 1000
  • AMM 1010
  • FST 1000
  • NTR 1000
  • PLT 1000
