Professor for a Day
March 9-13, 2026
Since 1998, Cal Poly Pomona's Alumni Professor for a Day Program has fostered meaningful engagement by inviting alumni to share their career journeys, explore graduate opportunities, or teach a class, thereby inspiring students with real-world insights and practical knowledge. This initiative not only provides students with valuable perspectives on translating education into success but also offers alumni a chance to reconnect with their alma mater, collaborate with faculty, and give back by sharing their professional wisdom and experiences, strengthening the university community and supporting student development and career readiness.
Alumni
How to participate: Complete the online form to sign up. A liaison from your college will contact you regarding your participation. While we would like to accommodate all alumni volunteers, space is contingent on faculty participation. Registration for 2026 will open in October 2025. When submitting the application please indicate which dates/times you are available to participate. The college liaison will work to match you with a class that fits your availability and experience. If you have any further restrictions or would like to visit a classroom outside of your major, please indicate that on the application under “special requests”. Preparing for your visit Each college liaison will receive a list of alumni and faculty that have signed up to participate in the program. The college liaison will work to match alumni with classrooms that fit availability and expertise and may reach out to you if they have any further questions about placement. Once placement is confirmed, you will receive an email from the Office of Alumni & External Relations with location, maps, and parking information. If you are visiting virtually, you will receive a Zoom link. If at any time you have questions, feel free to contact the Office of Alumni & External Relations at alumni@cpp.edu.
Faculty
Inviting alumni to speak in classrooms offers a mutually rewarding opportunity for alumni to give back and students to gain firsthand insights from professionals, enriching their educational experience. Faculty are encouraged to participate by coordinating with their college liaisons to arrange placements for visiting alumni or guest speakers. Additionally, if you have scheduled an alumni or guest speaker, please complete the designated form to notify your college and the alumni office. As a token of appreciation, each participant will receive a gift, fostering continued engagement and community building within the university. Why should faculty participate? Professor for a Day is a great way to encourage our Cal Poly Pomona alumni to visit a class and share their experience and knowledge with current students. When is Professor for a Day?
