Roman Arreguin
Roman Arreguin is a third-year Computer Information Systems major and as a Part-Time Student Operations Manager for both the Student Security Operations Center (SOC) as well as at the Mitchell C. Hill Student-Run Data Center (SDC), is a part of the Hill Family Fellows. In this role, he helps operate the SIEM system within the SOC with the ultimate goal of protecting and supporting the SDC. Through this role, Roman has developed hands-on skills using professional-grade security tools in a real-world environment with tools such as Splunk and Proxmox. After graduation, he plans to work as a security/SOC analyst
Marshall Ung
Marshall Ung is a fourth-year Computer Engineer and Part-Time Operations Manager for the Mitchell C. Hill Student-Run Data Center (SDC). Under this role, he manages the underlying infrastructure used to provide clubs and classrooms compute power that supports student learning. Prior to this position, Marshall competed in cybersecurity competitions such as the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition and the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. He wishes to put these skills to use and plans to pursue a career in consulting, either offensive or defensive.
Eric Heng
Eric Heng is a fourth-year Computer Information Systems major at Cal Poly Pomona and serves as a Part-Time Operations Manager for the Mitchell C. Hill Student-Run Data Center (SDC) and the Student Security Operations Center (SOC). In this role, he manages infrastructure projects , explores information technology, and contributes to the organization's growth. Eric enjoys gaining hands-on experience with virtualization, server management, and enterprise security infomation event management software that are rarely accessible in traditional classroom settings. He plans to pursue a career in networking. Eric transferred from Mount San Antonio College back when they were still the Mounties, before they switched to Rizzly the Grizzly.

Nich Rosen
Nich Rosen is a fourth-year Computer Information Systems major and serves as a Part-Time Operations Manager for the Student Security Operations Center (SOC), supported by the Mitchell C. Hill Center for Digital Innovation. In this role, Nich leads SOC operations, and oversees the configuration, maintenance, and operation of industry-grade SIEM systems and other cybersecurity tools within the SOC. He also leads and organizes hands-on training initiatives with the goal of broadening cybersecurity learning opportunities and expanding access for all ÁùÉ«Íø students. He is passionate about threat detection and incident response and aims to pursue a career as a SOC analyst after graduation.
Maxwell Caron
My name is Maxwell Caron, and I am pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems. Before starting my current position, I gained valuable experience with the Student Data Center by participating in extracurricular competition teams such as CPTC and CCDC, as well as being involved in clubs like SWIFT. This role was a perfect opportunity for me because it allowed me to work hands-on with the infrastructure of the SDC while also exploring my passion for cybersecurity within the Security Operations Center (SOC).
Derrick Tran - Former Director of the Student Data Center (SDC), Former Hill Family Fellow
Derrick Tran – is a senior student in Computer Information Systems program and the current director of the Student Data Center (SDC). He is a Hill Family Fellow. He has been a SWIFT club member since 2021 and has been affiliated with the SDC since then. In 2023 he worked at Google/Mandiant in an internship as red team consultant intern. He recently competed in the Global Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition and the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition where the team obtained 2nd place nationally. He has been helping with the administrative responsibilities of the SDC, making sure critical systems are up to date. He has also mentored volunteers about IT infrastructure.
Joseph Shin – Former Director of the Student Security Operations Center (SOC), Former Hill Family Fellow
Joseph Shin – is a graduate student in the Masters in Information Security program and is the current director of the SOC. He is a Hill Family Fellow. He has been a member of SWIFT since 2023, he participated in the National DOE CyberForce Cybersecurity Competition and in the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) national competition where the team obtained 2nd place nationally. He is learning to deploy and manage an industry recognized SIEM platform called Splunk to monitor the Student Data Center for security events. He has used this experience to teach and share his knowledge of Splunk to other student volunteers at the SOC and created a Splunk Lab for newcomers to get practical experience using Splunk.These are some career updates about the students who were affiliated with the MHC.
- Jacob J. was co-director the SDC until December 2023. He currently works for Cisco as a Security Engineer. He also just got accepted to Georgia Tech’s Masters in Cybersecurity program which Cisco is paying for!
- Dylan W. was co-director of the SDC until Spring 2023. Worked for IBM / Red Hat as a student while working in the SDC. He is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of weave.cloud.
- Justin C. was director of the SOC and graduated Spring 2023. He is a full time Red Team Cyber Engineer at Crowdstrike
- Taylor N. – was volunteer for the SOC 2021-2023 and graduated Spring 2023. He is a full time Red Team Cyber Engineer at Crowdstrike.
- Jensen G. – was the SOC Lead from 2019-2020. He currently works as AI Cyber Defense Analyst at NBCUniversal.
- Karanbir S. – was the project lead of the SDC and SOC 2018-2021. He works in cybersecurity an Senior Incident Response Consultant at Mandiant.
- Silas S. – Red team engineer at Crowdstrike. Graduated in 2020
- Gabriel F. was a 2021-2022 SWIFT vice president of operations and was actively engaged with the SDC. He currently works as a Detection Engineer at Upstart.
- Evan D. was a 2021-2022 SWIFT director of infrastructure. He was in charge of the revival of the SDC after Covid. He currently works as a Site Reliability Engineer at SpaceX.
