About the Award
The Jagdish N. Sheth Award for Excellence in Scholarship recognizes and celebrates research excellence in the College of Business Administration. Nirmal and Tara Sethia established this annual award in 2019 to honor Dr. Sheth as a towering scholar, an esteemed colleague, and an unmatched personification of grace and generosity.
“Tara and I were very pleased to launch this award in 2019, naming it after Professor Jagdish N. Sheth of Emory University, who has made seminal contributions in many fields of business scholarship. We are very gratified that since its inception the Sheth Award has been able to recognize and support outstanding scholars in the College of Business," said Dr. Sethia.

The Jagdish N. Sheth Award for Excellence in Scholarship established by Nirmal and Tara Sethia is a prestigious research award in the College of Business Administration. I am grateful for the Sethias for their philanthropic leadership in the area of research.
The award is in honor of Dr. Jagdish Sheth, a distinguished researcher in the area of marketing. Dr. Sheth is currently the Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Business, Emory University and is widely regarded as a foundational thought leader in business research. His work has been cited widely (over 68,000 times at last count) and is deeply influential.
Dr. Sheth is an excellent role model for all CBA faculty. I am delighted that this annual award will continue to inspire future generations of faculty members to practice the highest standards of research that makes a meaningful difference.
This is also a great model of faculty philanthropy in the college. I am deeply grateful to the Sethias for teaching us how to inspire. I hope this award shines a bright beacon for other colleagues considering how they might impact our institution.

Dr. Jagdish Sheth
Dr. Jagdish Sheth is widely recognized for his contributions to marketing, consumer behavior, relationship marketing, competitive strategy, and geopolitical analysis. He has published more than 300 research papers and 30 books. With his wife, he founded the Sheth Foundation, a nonprofit that supports emerging scholarship in marketing.

Nirmal Sethia
Dr. Nirmal Sethia is Professor Emeritus of Management and Human Resources at Cal Poly Pomona. His teaching and research focus on business ethics, corporate responsibility, and sustainability. He is also recognized for his leadership in faculty philanthropy.

Tara Sethia
Dr. Tara Sethia is Professor Emerita of History at Cal Poly Pomona. She specializes in India, South Asia, and nonviolent social change. Founder of the Ahimsa Center (2003–2022), she held the inaugural Shri Shantinath Endowed Chair in Ahimsa Studies.
