About

The Lock Shop provides responsive services associated with the installation, repair and replacement of a variety of mechanical and automated door operating and locking hardware throughout the campus.

 

What We Do

Services include but are not limited to: 

  • Repairing and maintaining existing locks, panic hardware and door closures for the campus
  • Changing out locks and providing new keys when security requirements require changes to locking systems.
  • Cutting keys for authorized customers
  • Installing door closers and doorstops

 

How to Request Keys

The Facilities Key Desk reviews and advances all requests for re-keying of locks, key cutting and key replacements, prior to submission to the Lock Shop.

For key requests, submit a signed and completed  to the Customer Service Center by emailing it to fmkeydesk@cpp.edu or dropping it off in person to Building 81-109.

For building card access requests, email Edgar Atienza in Systems & Data Center at edatienza@cpp.edu or call (909) 869-6654. At Cal Poly Pomona, the Systems & Data Center provisions campus card access.

 

Where to Pick Up Keys

The Customer Service Center (CSC) will notify customers once keys are ready for pick up. Only the requestor, key holder, or designated approver can pick up requested keys from the CSC at Building 81-109. A valid California ID or Bronco ID is required at the time of pick up. No other form of identification is accepted. If the department would like to elect an alternate to pick up keys, there must be a signed memo authorizing the alternate to do so.

 

Staff and Faculty Clearance

Separating staff or faculty must return all keys and building access cards to the Facilities Customer Service Center in Building 81 on or before their last day of work.

 

Additional Information

Loaning, lending or duplicating of keys is prohibited.

Lost/misplaced keys must be reported to the Facilities Key Desk by calling (909) 869-3027 or emailing fmkeydesk@cpp.edu immediately.

Persons in possession of unauthorized keys may be guilty of a misdemeanor as outlined in the California Penal Code Sec. 469.

Commonly asked questions about the department

Report the loss to the Key Desk at (909) 869-3027.

An incident report must be filed with the University Police Department prior to submitting a replacement request to the Customer Service Center.

If you need replacement keys, a new  with appropriate signatures must be submitted to the Customer Service Center through email (fmcustomer@cpp.edu) or dropped off in person at Building 81.

Custodial Services locks and unlocks academic buildings in the morning and evenings Monday through Friday. Classrooms are the responsibility of the department scheduling the class and card access is authorized through IT. Card key access is done by the dean’s office in each college. If assistance is needed, contact the Customer Service Center (909) 869-3030.  For after-hours access, call Cal Poly Pomona’s University Police Department at (909) 869-3070.

Call the Facilities Customer Service Center at (909) 869-3030 to generate a work order for the locksmith to check the lock. To obtain a new key, contact the Customer Service Center to coordinate a return and obtain a replacement.

The key may be defective, have a bad cut, worn or contain a burr. Contact the Key Desk at (909) 869-3027 to coordinate a return and issuance of a new key.

The old key must be returned. To obtain the new key, a new  must be completed and authorization must be given to receive a new key.

Unfortunately, it is against university policy to issue duplicate keys to one individual. Too many keys invite security and safety risks. If your assistant needs a key, they will have to follow the normal procedure and have a key issued in their name.
