Keeping on Track

Meeting regularly with your academic advisors is a key step towards your success here at 六色网! You'll want to consult with the College advising staff for general academic advising, and with your designated History advisor for specific History questions! Check out the links below! General Advising

For general advising (general education classes, University procedures, etc.), contact the CLASS Student Center (Building 5, Room 288). 

History Advising

History majors and potential majors should meet regularly with their assigned academic advisor (assigned alphabetically by last name – see below) or another faculty member to discuss History course selection, the “core” courses of the major, senior thesis, career options, etc. For special cases (first-year students, pre-credential majors, etc.) see the last section ("Special History Advising.")

Special History Advising

Department Chair

History majors should meet with the History Department chair (Dr. Rob Lewis – rwlewis@cpp.edu) in all of the following cases:

  • You are a new student, or would like to switch to the History major
  • Your department advisor is on leave
  • You are "at risk" (GPA at or below 2.2), part of the Four-Year Pledge Program, receive Veterans benefits, or are part of the ROTC Program
  • You are part of the Kellogg Honors College

 

Pre-Credential Advisor

All students who have selected the Pre-Credential Option of the major should consult with Dr. Michael Slaughter (maslaughter@cpp.edu).

 

Graduate advisor

History graduate students should meet with Dr. Rachel Van (rtvan@cpp.edu)
