The Office of Conflict Resolution Services and Ombuds is here for you — whether you are a student, faculty, staff member or administrator at Cal Poly Pomona — our services are confidential, voluntary and tailored to your needs. We will not tell you what to do or keep records that identify you. We listen, explore options and support you as you decide what comes next.

Individual Conversations

Speak privately with the Ombuds about any university-related issue — big or small. We will help you think it through, sort your options and find your path forward. No pressure, no reporting, no judgment.

Group Facilitation

Need help navigating a group dynamic or team challenge? We offer confidential group support, including dialogue facilitation, group agreement development and conflict resolution tailored to your needs and values.

Navigating Campus Systems

Not sure where to turn? We can help you understand University policies and connect you with the right resources on your terms. We do not replace any program or office, but we can help you identify and make the most of them.

Informal Pulse Taking

Is something not quite right in your team, unit or organization? The Ombuds can help by gathering anonymous feedback, identifying underlying issues and offering non-attributable insight into group dynamics — without formal surveys, processes or requirements.

Conflict Systems Consulting

We do not just respond to conflict — we help Broncos build resilience. Whether you are launching a new initiative or rethinking how your department handles disputes, we can work with you to design fair and practical approaches that align with your values and goals.

Self-Help & Skill Building

From conflict de-escalation guides to self-assessments, communication strategy and negotiation worksheets, we provide tools to help you navigate challenges more confidently.

Workshops & Training

We offer sessions on managing difficult conversations, apology and reconciliation, conflict competence and more for students, faculty, staff and leadership. We can host at a location convenient to you and your group, or virtually.

Informal Systemic Feedback

If you have noticed a recurring/systematic problem or want to raise an issue that affects many, we can explore options together or elevate patterns and concerns to leadership, while keeping your identity protected.

The use of Ombuds services is always voluntary, confidential and informal — we do not investigate, take sides or make decisions — and will not replace any other services or options. However, we are available to help you navigate. You decide what to share, whether to meet and what steps (if any) to take.
