Ready to turn your love for music into a career? Our Music Industry Studies option will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the music business, from the tech side of production to the marketing and management that drives the industry. Learn how to create and perform music while exploring the economics, culture and legal aspects of the music world. Get real-world experience through internships and collaborations with professionals in the Los Angeles music scene.

Ready to educate the next generation of great musicians? Our Pedagogy (Pre-Credential) program prepares you to teach music in schools, giving you the skills to inspire future musicians. You’ll learn the theory and techniques of effective teaching while gaining hands-on experience. This program also sets you up to meet the “Subject Matter Competency” requirement for a Single Subject Credential in Music, so you’re ready to lead your own music classroom.

Ready to turn your musical ideas into masterpieces? The Music Composition option is your launchpad to a career in creating original music. You’ll study diverse compositional techniques, orchestration and contemporary music practices while using advanced technology to craft original works. You’ll collaborate with peers and have your pieces performed by talented ensembles, gaining the experience you need to thrive as a composer or arranger.

Our Music Performance option will help you fine-tune your technical skills while developing your unique artistic voice. Majoring in something else at Cal Poly Pomona but still want to incorporate music in your undergraduate experience? The Music Minor is designed for students majoring in other disciplines who wish to gain further experience and knowledge in music. This program offers a flexible curriculum that includes core courses in music theory and history, as well as opportunities for performance.
