100% Refund Eligibility

Students who drop all classes or officially withdraw before the University's first day of instruction are eligible for a full refund of tuition and mandatory fees, minus a $5 processing fee. However, application fees and late registration charges are non-refundable.

Prorated Refund Eligibility

  • Period: August 21 – October 29, 2025
  • Condition: Student must drop or withdraw from all classes during this period.
  • Result: A partial (prorated) refund based on how many days have passed since the start of instruction.

⚠️ Note: Students who remain enrolled in even one class are not eligible for a prorated refund.

 🚫 No Refunds After October 29, 2025
Withdrawals processed after this date are not eligible for a refund of tuition or fees.

How to Calculate a Prorated Refund

🧮The refund is based on the portion of the term not attended.

📘Follow these steps:

  1. Count total term days: Fall 2025 instruction: August 21 – December 12 = 113 calendar days
  2. Determine your withdrawal date: Count how many days have passed from August 21 to your official withdrawal date.
  3. Calculate the percentage of the term attended: Percent Attended = Days Attended ÷ 113
  4. Calculate refund percentage: Refund Percentage = 1 - Percent Attended
  5. Apply the refund percentage to tuition and fees paid.
🧮 Example
  • Withdrawal date: September 20, 2025
  • Days attended: 31
  • Percent attended: 31 ÷ 113 = 27.4%
  • Refund: 100% - 27.4% = 72.6% refund of tuition and fees

Students who adjust their enrollment during the official add/drop period may be eligible for a fee adjustment. If a student drops one or more classes but remains enrolled, they may qualify for a change in their tuition status—from full-time to part-time—based on their new unit load.

To be eligible for a fee adjustment:

  • The enrollment change must occur during the official add/drop period.
  • The new total number of enrolled units must place the student in a lower tuition category (e.g., full-time to part-time).
  • The student must not be receiving a flat-rate tuition or special program pricing that restricts adjustments.

Reminder

  • Students are encouraged to review the academic calendar and consult with the Student Accounting & Cashiering Services office to confirm eligibility for fee adjustments based on enrollment changes.
  • Students receiving financial aid should contact the Financial Aid Office before withdrawing, as this may impact aid eligibility or repayment.

CSU Fee Policy

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Tuition and fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU reserves the right, even after tuition or fees are initially charged or initial payments are made, to increase or modify any listed tuition or fees. All listed fees, other than mandatory systemwide tuition, are subject to change without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU-listed tuition and fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the chancellor or the presidents, as appropriate. Changes in mandatory systemwide tuition will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 through 66028.6 of the California Education)
