Overview

Managing your student account can raise a lot of questions, especially around payments, holds, refunds, and financial aid. We have gathered the most commonly asked questions to help you better understand your student account, payment options, policies, and support services. Use the list below to find quick answers and helpful resources for managing your finances at Cal Poly Pomona.

Student Account, Payment & Refunds FAQs


You can check for holds in BroncoDirect by following these steps:

  1. Log in to BroncoDirect.

  2. Click on Student Center.

  3. Look for the Holds section on the right side of your Student Center homepage.

  4. Click Details to view more information about each hold, including the reason and instructions for resolving it.

Tip: Holds can affect your ability to register for classes, receive transcripts, or get financial aid. It’s a good idea to check your account regularly—especially before registration periods

BFH stands for Business Financial Hold. This hold is placed on a student's account when there is an outstanding balance after the supplemental fee payment deadline. It prevents access to various services, like enrollment in subsequent terms. To remove the hold, the outstanding balance needs to be paid in full. 

Service fees are charges for the convenience of paying using a credit card.

  • Cal Poly Pomona’s third-party vendor, Transact, charges a 2.65% non-refundable fee on Debit or credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover).
  • Credit card payments are not accepted in person.

You can avoid service fees by choosing one of these options:

  • Pay online using ECheck (Electronic Check)
  • Mail a check to: Cal Poly Pomona, 3801 West Temple Avenue, Pomona, CA 91768 (Do not mail cash)
  • Pay in person by cash or check at Student Accounting & Cashiering Services
  • Use the drop box at the Cashier’s Office to submit a check (Do not leave cash in the drop box)

You have two options:

  1. Installment Payment Plan (IPP):

  • Visit to enroll in a payment plan.

Direct deposit is a secure and convenient way to receive money electronically into your bank account, without needing to deposit a paper check.

  • Fast: Funds are typically available on payday or within 1–2 business days.

  • Secure: Reduces the risk of lost or stolen checks.

  • Convenient: No need to visit a bank or ATM to deposit money.

This is when an external organization pays your fees on your behalf. This can include employers, embassies, military branches, or government agencies. Learn more on our Third-Party Payment page.

Campus fees are also known as auxiliary fees. These fees fund essential services, programs, and facilities that are not supported by state funding, such as student centers, recreation facilities, health services, and campus events. Your contributions through these fees help maintain and enhance student life on campus.

Without auxiliary fees, many of the services and resources students rely on would not be available.

Yes, campus fees are a type of auxiliary fee. They support non-academic services and programs that enrich your college experience and are not funded by the state.

Yes! Parents, guardians, or other authorized individuals can pay your bill on your behalf.

Here’s how:

  • Online: You can set up a parent or guest as an Authorized Payer in Transact (accessible through your BroncoDirect Student Center). Once added, they’ll receive their own login to view and pay your charges securely.

  • In Person: Anyone can make a payment at the Cashier’s Office, but they’ll need your Bronco ID number to complete the transaction.

  • By Mail: Checks or money orders can be mailed to the university. Make sure your name and Bronco ID number are included on the payment.

Reminder: Due to privacy laws (FERPA), we can’t discuss your account details unless you’ve granted the person permission through your FERPA release settings.

You can update your mailing address through your BroncoDirect Student Center. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your BroncoDirect Student Center.

  2. Go to the Personal Information section.

  3. Click on Addresses.

  4. Select Mailing Address and click Edit to update it.

Be sure to save your changes. Let us know if you have any trouble!

You can check your due dates by logging in to your Student Center:

  1. Go to BroncoDirect.

  2. Click on Student Center.

  3. Under the Finance section, select Account Inquiry.

  4. Then click on the Activity or Charges Due tab to see your due dates and amounts.
